Amy Duggan, MSW

Therapist

As both a therapist and group worker, I believe strongly in the importance of having healthy relationships and a sense of belonging in our daily life.

In my individual therapy sessions, I am passionate about providing a safe holding space for people to investigate what may be holding them back from experiencing a better quality of life. As a trauma-informed clinician, I understand the importance of validation and acceptance in allowing us to fully engage in the healing process. We need to feel heard and understand that the person we are sharing our stories with believes us and is curious to understand our truth and what we need. By facilitating groups, my goal is to assist people in making connections to build up their support systems and learn skills to continue to build strong and healthy relationships outside of the group setting. I am passionate about cultivating spaces for people to identify with one another, feel less alone, learn new things, broaden perspectives, gain new ones, and practice healthy intrapersonal communication.

I provide therapy for adolescents, emerging adults, and adults who are looking to work through trauma (including SA and childhood trauma), cope with anxiety and depression, navigate life transitions, and/or develop skills to assist with communication challenges in relationships.

In all areas of my practice, I utilize an eclectic and individualized approach. I draw from experience utilizing CBT, DBT, ACT, Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT), and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT).  The goal in using these combined theories is to assist clients in identifying root causes of relationship conflict and to provide insight into how our trauma impacts us as we develop over time.
